After the reign of Tom Brady ended in Tampa Bay, the Bucs’ team management is in a rush to determine their starting quarterback for the upcoming season.
Brady has left a significant legacy on the Buccaneers squad, helping them to capture the team’s second championship after a long drought. Although the Buccaneers are attempting to fill the starting quarterback position, there isn’t anyone on their roster who can perfectly replace the undisputed GOAT of GOATs.
Todd Bowles’s opinion on Baker Mayfield, Kyle Trask
The competition for the starting quarterback job with the Buccaneers is currently between Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask, and both players are working out hard during OTAs. The team’s head coach Todd Bowles is on duty to witness the practice of these two quarterbacks closely.
Bowles shared the exciting news that Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask have split time with the Bucs’ first team at quarterback in an interview with reporters on Tuesday.
“Per head coach Todd Bowles, during this offseason in Tampa Bay, both Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask have had equal first team reps at QB,” James Palmer tweeted.

Who is the QB for Tampa Bay in the next NFL season?
Following the Bucs’ selection of the Florida Gators quarterback Trask in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, he joined the team. The quarterback had 9 attempts, 23 passing yards, and 0 interceptions in 2022.
However, the Buccaneers experienced a significant lack of confidence at quarterback after Brady announced his retirement in February. They decided quickly and came to an agreement to sign Mayfield to an 8.5 million dollar, one-year contract in the following month.
Before moving on to Tampa Bay, Mayfield had an amazing career with the Browns, shattering several rookie records set in Cleveland. He is also the only quarterback in NFL history to have multiple career losses when his offense scores 42 points or more.
In addition, the 28-year-old became the rookie with the most PASS touchdowns in Cleveland Brown’s history and was a key factor in helping the team win its first playoff game in more than 25 years.
So, at this point, it is impractical to figure out the exact starting QB for the Bucs team. Even though Mayfield is an experienced player, Trask Bowles’ teams additionally need to keep the Georgia player on hand to compare each other’s abilities and fill the hole left by the four-time Super Bowl champions.
