Incidentally, things slip out of the mouth that one regrets later though there remains no room to take back the words. Wide receiver Calvin Ridley recently unintentionally expressed the amount of profit he made from gambling in a reply on twitter, though quickly deleted the reply.
With a 2023 fifth-round pick who last played for the Atlanta Falcons in 2021, the Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons made a trade-deadline agreement in November to acquire Ridley. The former first-round pick produced 2,171 catches for 3,061 yards and 26 touchdowns in his first three seasons in Atlanta.
Why did NFL suspend Calvin Ridley?
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Ridley bet $500 each on three different parlays that all included the Atlanta Falcons, his former team, using his personal phone. As a result, the WR’s base salary of $11.1 million was forfeited when the NFL suspended him indefinitely for betting on NFL games in 2021.
However, Calvin later came to regret his action and wrote his initial comments for a Players’ Tribune article published.
“In a dark moment, I made a stupid mistake. I wasn’t trying to cheat the game. That’s the thing I want to make clear. At the time, I had been completely away from the team for about a month. I was still just so depressed and angry, and the days were so long. I was looking for anything to take my mind off of things and make the day go by faster,” CR stated.
An utter reply from Calvin regarding his betting amount
The Jacksonville reported on Tuesday that Ridley would switch to wearing jersey number 0. Following that, the fan made fun of the team and the wide receiver extensively. In one of the numerous trolling posts, Ridley reacted to a tweet with an astonishing reply.
“That s— behind me but I won 36k,” the 28-year-old wrote in the comment.
BREAKING: In reply to my previous tweet about Calvin Ridley switching to the number 0. Calvin Ridley, now of the Jaguars, appears to show NO REMORSE for the bet that cost him a year’s worth of games😳🤯 pic.twitter.com/xc0hghLtDw

After a short while, he removed the comment, but the person to whom Kelvin had responded had saved it and had once more posted it as a screenshot.
Despite having previously expressed regret for his actions, the former Atlanta Falcons’ reply seemed to have no regrets about the bet. He may have forgotten the incident cost him a season’s worth of games.
