Can Bayern Munich take advantage of Barcelona’s financial situation to sign Ronald Araujo for €100M?

Ronald Araujo, in recent years, has turned out to be one of the most polished and rock-solid defenders in the game, and he has caught many eyes for a transfer out of Barcelona. Bayern Munich have come out to be the latest side to show interest in the Uruguayan center-back, as Thomas Tuchel looks to get greatness back for the German giants.

Bayern are considering launching a €100 million offer for the 24-year-old, which might turn out to be too good to refuse for Barcelona, considering they have a tough financial situation at the moment. Barcelona, however, are considering renewing Ronald Araujo’s contract, as clubs are circling around to take advantage of the situation.

Can Bayern Munich get Ronald Araujo for €100M?

In today’s market, Ronald Araujo can easily be tagged as a €100 million defender, and Bayern Munich are set to give him the tag as the Bavarians are readying a bid around the century mark, according to reputed news source Mundo Deportivo.

As a result of the defensive deficiencies that Bayern Munich have experienced, the club is now searching for defensive additions to help strengthen its defense in the absence of the usual starters.

However, according to further reports, there is ‘NO’ chance of Araujo joining Bayern in the winter transfer window, as the player desires to stay this season. But it is believed that there is a slim chance of working out a deal during the coming summer transfer window if the German side pays an insane amount for the Uruguayan.

Barcelona themselves have been in the market for center backs, especially the ‘New Araujo’, and it is believed to be unlikely for them to let Ronald Araujo go next month.

Details on Barcelona’s current financial situation

Bayern Munich remain aware of Barcelona’s financial situation and are willing to test the waters with the Araujo bid. Ever since Bartomeu left Barcelona, the club has been hell-bent on improving the situation and might have found a way out without selling any players.

As the ECJ verdict came out in favor of Real Madrid and Barcelona, the Catalan giants are due to get a €1 billion boost, provided the Super League goes through, which will solve Barcelona’s financial conditions and allow them to comply with La Liga’s financial fair play rules and get more players for the depth of the team.

However, if Barcelona do not arrange the money soon enough and fail UEFA’s fair play regulations, they might get eliminated from next year’s Champions League despite qualification. Due to operating deficits over the years, the club has already racked up over €1.35 billion in debt.

Despite the enormous odds, the team still hopes to win the Super League – UEFA battle, which could boost their finances. However, Barcelona sold 25% of its La Liga broadcast profits for 25 years to US investor Sixth Street and sold media company Barca Studios for profits.
