The game of football is hard, and sometimes the best of the teams have to face a shameful defeat. FC Barcelona was once crushed with an 8-2 defeat against Bayern Munich. Former American footballer Carli Lloyd has also recently talked about one of her debacles that made her team a laughing stock among the public.
Carli Lloyd talked about her team losing to a bunch of 15-year-olds, which caused her and her squad to receive a lot of criticism and trolling. Though it is not something she likes talking about, the American striker responded well when asked about it.
Carli Lloyd confirms USWNT once lost to the under-15 boys team.
If you have been a football fan for a long time, chances are that you have heard about the United States’ national women’s soccer team losing to a 15-year-old boys team. The issue was a hot topic years ago, but as time went by, people forgot about it, and some tried to pass it all off as rumors and nothing more. Former Amerian footballer Carli Lloyd was just asked by a fan on social media platform “X,” if she actually lost to a team of young boys.
The retired footballer admitted that all the talks are indeed true, and it did happen back in 2017. She said, “Yes, it’s true. I know… Thousands of people have already brought that up.” She also went on to admit that they once lost to a Bayern Munich youth team as well. Carli does not care about these losses anymore, as she and her team proved themselves by winning the 2019 Women’s World Cup. ‘They were good. We actually lost to a youth Bayern Munich team in my career as well, but then we went on to win the Olympics and World Cups. So…..’ said Carli.
Which under-15 boys team defeated USWNT, Carli Lloyd?
The team that defeated Carli Lloyd all those years ago was FC Dallas’ youth team. The match went in favor of the young boys, who came out victorious with a score of 5-2. Though the US team faced defeat, the players did not let the loss bring them down. They still celebrated their opponent’s victory and even posed with them for pictures.
In a separate tweet, Carli Lloyd talked about the opposing team, saying, ‘They should beat us. Bigger, stronger, faster! The boys always gave us a run for our money! It was great prep.’ Though some people laugh at this loss, Lloyd and her team simply do not care much about it, as they still won the World Cup two years later and the loss did not affect what their team was aiming for.
It is good to see that Carli has the sportsmanship to talk about her defeat and not get offended by people asking her questions about it.
