Hayes is a former one-time NXT Cruiserweight Champion and a former two-time NXT North American Champion. He recently revealed who he would fight if given the opportunity in WWE. The top two wrestlers in Carmelo’s eyes are Edge and John Cena.
Edge and John Cena are two of the most popular superstars among fans. That being said, Carmelo praised Edge by saying, “Edge is a more realistic fighter to fight against, as I can learn a lot from him.” Earlier, Edge was forced to retire from active in-ring competition shortly after WrestleMania 27 due to a neck injury, but turned the wrestling world on its head when he emerged at the 2020 Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant. Edge then won the Rumble in 2021.
On his social media, Hayes has been open about his admiration and love for Edge. He looked up to Edge and said that was one of the reasons why he got into wrestling in the first place. Also later, he mentioned Cena by saying, “He’s another one that reached out to me, who I never would have thought, you know what I mean? That’s one of my favorite wrestlers growing up as a kid. ”
The sixteen-time world champion is currently preoccupied with Hollywood success and rarely appears on WWE. Besides, due to Cena’s busy schedule in the film industry, there is no scope for a proper dream match with Hayes at the moment. However, as Triple H has taken over the creative team, anything is possible now!
