On Friday, an agreement was reached with Madrid; however, visa issues have complicated United’s goal of revealing their new signing before their match against Liverpool on Monday.
According to Marca, United appear to have overcome those obstacles, as Casemiro will bid farewell to Madrid fans and teammates at a press conference on Monday before flying to Manchester later that day.
According to the report, United will present Casemiro at Old Trafford on Monday evening and hope to complete the paperwork in time for the midfielder to play against Southampton in the Premier League on August 27.
Paul Scholes famously wore United’s No.18 shirt for the majority of his time at Old Trafford and now, Casemiro wore the No.38 and No.16 shirts at Real Madrid before settling on the No.14 in 2015.
Erik ten Hag admitted ahead of United’s match against Liverpool that United’s lack of a defensive midfielder is one of the reasons for their slow start to the new Premier League season.
The Manchester United manager also added, ‘I think we had a good basic pre-season, but then our number nine [Anthony] Martial was injured and Ronny [Cristiano Ronaldo] is not fit. The ‘six’ in holding midfield is not there. First game, we had the two in defense who had never played with each other and the goalkeeper was also not the best in this period. There is a clear reason why. But I know we will fix that and I know that we will be better and the results will show this. It has been shown in pre-season.’
