Cavs president Koby Altman arrested for OVI and marked lanes violations

Koby Altman and the Cleveland Cavaliers will have to settle some off-court issues before the start of the new season. The problem is a significant concern to the entire team because it involved the Cleveland Cavaliers’ President of Basketball operations.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are supposed to leverage the intelligent move they have achieved in the market rather than being involved in a police case as reports claim that the President of the Cleveland Cavaliers has been arrested. This isn’t good news as teams will soon open their preparation camps in few days ahead of the new season.

Koby Altman arrested for DUI and marked lanes violations

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ president of basketball operations, Koby Altman, was arrested on Friday evening.” He was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired. Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol pulled Altman over in Cleveland, a little before 9 p.m. They accused him of violating marked lanes and driving under the influence (OVI). @TheDunkCentral tweeted to confirm the arrest “On Friday night, Koby Altman, the President of Basketball Operations for the Cleveland Cavaliers, was arrested for driving under the influence.”

Several reports also claim that Troopers started a traffic stop, and while they talked to the driver, they noticed signs of impairment. The driver was then arrested for OVI and, shortly after, was asked to take a breath test, which he declined. Though the Police also confirm that Altman was “respectful and cooperative with troopers.”

Koby Altman has been excellent in delivering his administrative duties, The team made it to the NBA playoff in the previous season after several years which is something the fans and NBA enthusiasts expect him the President, and the Cavs to build on as the new we envisage a new NBA season not to be involved in issues that could be to the teams’ detriment going forward. 

Cavs release statement on Koby Altman being arrested on charges of OVI

Koby’s arrest on Friday over lanes violation and OVi has seen the club issue a statement. The Cleveland Cavaliers released a statement on that purpose indicating they are aware of the situation surrounding their president and are gathering more details regarding the incident.

According to the tweet by P.J. ZIEGLER  who is a Sports Anchor and Reporter at FOX 8 in Cleveland, the tweet with #Cavs statement on Koby Altman being arrested on charges of OVI on Friday night: “We are aware of an incident involving Cavaliers President of Basketball Operations Koby Altman. We are currently gathering more information and have no further comment at this time.”

Altman, who celebrated his 41st birthday last Saturday, came to Cleveland’s front office back in 2012. He started in the pro personnel department and ascended to the assistant general manager. In 2017, he got a promotion to become the general manager. Then, in January 2022, he signed a contract extension that made him the president of basketball operations through the 2027-28 season. The Cavs fans will have to wait patiently to know what will unfold a few days from now while wishing their club does not get severe implications.
