Chantelle Cameron shocked the world last weekend after she handed Katie Taylor her first professional boxing loss in front of the Irish boxer’s home crowd in Dublin. Cameron successfully defended her undisputed titles as she edged past Taylor via split decision. Two of the judges scored the contest 97-93 and 96-94 in favor of the British champion.

Chantelle Cameron went to war last weekend against Katie Taylor and put on a terrific showing in front of a hostile crowd in Dublin, Ireland. Everyone was expecting Taylor to get her hands raised before the fight. But the British boxer proved to everyone why she deserves to be the undisputed champion.
After her win over KT, Cameron sat down for an interview with TalkSport. During this conversation, the interviewer asked Chantelle whether Katie Taylor was the toughest opponent she has ever faced in her career. Surprisingly, she picked her rival Mary McGee over Katie Taylor as her hardest test and explained why the former was a much bigger threat.
“I wouldn’t say she actually was in all honesty. I think Mary McGee was. She was bigger, she was stronger. Katie’s an amazing boxer, literally unbelievable. Her boxing IQ is second to none. But for toughness of the fight, I’d definitely say Mary McGee.”
“The toughest part of boxing Katie Taylor was probably keeping my composure and my nerves coming into such a hostile crowd. She’s so fast and sharp, but toughness wise I definitely would say that’d be Mary McGee.”

Chantelle Cameron took on Mary McGee in a ten-round bout for the unified light-welterweight titles at the O2 Arena in London in October 2021. Cameron completely outclassed McGee throughout the ten rounds to retain her WBC title and also win the IBF and Ring titles.
In the end, both boxers showed great heart and durability as they absorbed a tremendous amount of power punches and took the fight to the distance.
