Patrick Mahomes, the back-to-back Super Bowl champion’s brother, Jackson Mahomes, has been facing lawsuits since last year for which he also went on a social media hiatus.
Jackson has received the final decision regarding the criminal case in which he found himself at the center, charged with assault at a restaurant outside of Kansas City last year.
Jackson Mahomes receives probation in alleged assault case
Jackson Mahomes has been sentenced to six months of probation in a case involving an alleged assault on a woman. During his sentencing hearing, Jackson pleaded guilty to a single misdemeanor count of battery, appearing via video conference.
Mahomes’ attorney, Brandan Davies, stated that Jackson pled no contest to a single count of simple battery, expressing gratitude for the support of family and friends. Davies mentioned that Jackson sought closure in the case to move on with his life.
“Jackson is thankful for the support of his family and friends during the last year. Jackson pled no contest to a single count of simple battery and he was given six months of unsupervised probation.”
Jackson formally pled “no contest,” indicating that he didn’t admit guilt but accepted the punishment handed out by the court.
“Jackson simply wanted the case to be over with and to move on with his life, the matter is now closed and we will not be issuing any further statements.”
He was subsequently sentenced to six months of probation. Following his sentence, Jackson Mahomes was taken into custody by the Johnson County Sheriff’s office. They will determine whether he’s eligible for work release. The news came just a few weeks after his brother won his third Super Bowl Championship with the Chiefs.
What is the alleged accusation against Jackson Mahomes?
Jackson Mahomes was accused of assaulting a woman at Aspens Restaurant and Lounge, a now-shuttered eating establishment located in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park. He was facing three felony charges for allegedly grabbing a woman by the neck and kissing her forcefully.
Two months ago, the prosecutors dismissed three felony charges for aggravated sexual battery because of the lack of cooperation from the woman, according to a court filing.
However, Jackson was also facing a misdemeanor battery charge for shoving a waiter who tried to come into a room where he was with the woman. The felony charges were dropped after the alleged woman who accused Jackson refused to testify in the case.
Reportedly, she received death threats and harassment, and her restaurant was vandalized in the wake of the charges. She also closed her restaurant in August.
But now Jason has pleaded no contest to one count of misdemeanor battery and is facing six months of probation. Jackson Mahomes is not the only member of Patrick’s family who is dealing with legal battles.
One week after the QB won the Super Bowl championship, Patrick Mahomes Sr. also got into a case, facing a third DUI charge for which he is facing up to 10 years in prison.
