This simple gesture from the star quarterback has sent Chiefs fans into a frenzy, eagerly awaiting the electrifying plays that could unfold between Mahomes and Ross in the upcoming season.
What happened to Justyn Ross in the Chiefs?
Justyn Ross had a remarkable collegiate career at Clemson University from 2018 to 2021. He showcased his skills on the biggest stage in the 2019 National Championship, recording over 150 yards and a touchdown in Clemson’s dominant 44-16 victory over Alabama.
Ross’s freshman season was nothing short of exceptional either, as he amassed exactly 1,000 receiving yards and caught nine touchdown passes. He continued his impressive performance into his sophomore year, accumulating 865 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. However, injuries started to plague him soon after.
In 2020, Ross missed the entire season due to neck surgery to address a congenital defect. Despite his return in 2021, he struggled to regain his previous form, finishing the season with just 524 yards and three touchdowns. Nevertheless, Ross decided to forgo his final season of college eligibility and entered the 2022 NFL Draft.
Unfortunately, concerns over his medical history caused all 32 NFL teams to pass on drafting him. Nonetheless, the Chiefs signed Ross as an undrafted free agent. To the disappointment of many, his debut season with the team was put on hold as he underwent foot surgery, sidelining him for the entire year.
It has been three seasons since Ross made a significant impact on the football field. Nevertheless, the Kansas City Chiefs fans remain hopeful that this year will be a turning point for him. They are optimistic that Justyn will be able to regain his form and showcase the talent that made him a standout player at Clemson.
