When the discussion is about the success of earning a Super Bowl title in the league, the Buccaneers’ former quarterback Tom Brady will probably top most charts with his phenomenal record of earning seven Lombardi trophies in the NFL. Though the Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has not yet reached Brady’s level, he is often considered on the way to reaching the Bucs star having two Super Bowl titles in his bag already.
Mahomes has taken his squad to an incredible height in a really short period, and many fans have already projected him to beat TB12’s record of wearing the most Super Bowl rings. Nevertheless, for now, he looks more worried about maintaining the winning streak from the last season.
Mahomes embraces the challenge of repeating a Super Bowl success
The Kansas City squad just won the Lombardi trophy by beating the Philadelphia Eagles last season. Given the inclusion of so many promising players in the AFC East this year, Pat thinks the competition is only going to get stronger in the upcoming season,
“Yeah, I think it’s so difficult. There’s so much player movement these days. I mean, you see so many different guys, free agency or trade or guys coming into the draft that are great players and so every team is getting better and better each and every year. It’s hard. I mean, it’s hard to win the Super Bowl.”
The 27-year-old veteran said he thinks the key to consecutive success in the league is consistency on the field and to have a winning mindset,
“You can put in or you can do everything the right way and you don’t win and so to be able to repeat it, you have to just continue to work and work and work and try to get yourself in position to win those big games.”
The Chiefs have the highest odds of snatching away the upcoming Lombardi trophy as they are sitting at +600, with the Eagles (+750), the Buffalo Bills (+900), and the Cincinnati Bengals (+1000) right behind Pat’s squad. Nevertheless, the signal-caller remained optimistic about his team’s caliber and said they are aiming to prove their legacy once again,
“I’m confident in us because we have we’ve had a lot of guys are coming back now that I’ve seen and won a Super Bowl and been in that big moment but same time we to go out there and prove it.”
Did Mahomes win 2 Super Bowls?
Mahomes appeared in three Super Bowls and has won two of them, with the first one being in the 2019 postseason by defeating the San Francisco 49ers, ending the team’s 50-year Super Bowl drought while he became the youngest QB in the history of the NFL to win a Championship title. He threw for 286 yards, two touchdowns as well as two interceptions and earned the MVP title.
The young star led his team to their second title in the last season by beating Philly, overcoming a 10-point halftime deficit despite struggling with a high ankle sprain. Pat earned his second MVP title in the season after leading Kansas City to 5 back-to-back playoffs in the league.
As the new NFL season approaches fast, Mahomes seems poised to claim another title, and the Chiefs fans can probably breathe a bit easier with such a reliable campaigner at the helm.
