The Chiefs transfer talk is circulating the NFL world after Patrick Mahomes became the eleventh player in NFL history to win both the Super Bowl and league MVP in the same season, joining an exclusive group of players that includes Bradshaw, Tom Brady, Joe Montana, and Eli Manning as players who have won multiple Super Bowls MVP titles.
Last month, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs won their second Super Bowl in four seasons, making Mahomes the 13th quarterback to have won two Super Bowl championships and ensuring his induction into the Hall of Fame regardless of what happens to the rest of his career.
However, Mahomes will be eying that third Super Bowl bringing his “A” game to the table along with his victorious team. Yet, to make this blueprint vision come to reality, the Kansas City team must retain its best players. With that being said, let us have a glance at the Chiefs transfer talk—
What does the Chiefs transfer talk look like?
The defending Super Bowl winners are keen to keep at least one of their premium free agents, so while tweeting about Chiefs transfer talk James Palmer mentions that the team intends to keep both wide receivers Kadarius Toney and JuJu Smith-Schuster this offseason.
The thought in KC right now is Patrick Mahomes is expected to be throwing the same core group of guys he ended the season with.
– Kelce
– Toney (who the #chiefs believe will be WR1 in 2023)
– MVS
– The plan is to bring Ju Ju back

JuJu Smith-Schuster is a wide receiver who has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers for the past four seasons. In those four seasons, he has been a productive player, catching 78 passes for 933 yards.
According to reports, a number of teams, including the New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, and Baltimore Ravens, are interested in Smith-Schuster. He has not yet signed with a team, though, as of yet.
With 14 receptions for 171 yards and two touchdowns, Kadarius Toney has established himself as a player with speed, agility, and the ability to make defenders miss in space. Mahomes’ other target Toney is still a draft prospect as of March 8, 2023; hence he is not currently under contract with an NFL team. Toney is anticipated to be taken in the top two wide receivers in the 2023 NFL Draft, which is slated to take place in late April.
These two players, if they can contribute their exceptional playing abilities, will undoubtedly be crucial to Mahomes’ third Super Bowl title.
Can the chiefs afford to pay for Smith-Schuster and Kadarious Toney?
The majority of fans want to keep Smith-Schuster, but they worry that Kansas City may not be able to keep him because of the cost, which is unfounded because the wide receiver market has lately exploded, and there aren’t many well-known wide receivers available as free agents this year.
The clubs in need of a receiver might be willing to shell out around $20 million annually for Smith-Schuster, who has a projected market value of a little over $14 million, according to Spotrac.
Toney’s cap amount is wholly paid as base salary, which is scheduled to contribute just $1.907 million against the limit this year. Toney’s contract is, therefore, affordable for the Chiefs moving into the 2023 season, as it’s anticipated that Toney’s fifth-year option will cost between $13 and $15 million.
