Chris Eubank Jr. calls out Canelo Alvarez claiming Jermell Charlo fought undisputed world champ just to “secure a payday”

Chris Eubank Jr. expressed his disappointment with the fight between Canelo Alvarez and Jermell Charlo. Throughout the 12 rounds in the boxing ring, Canelo, a champion in four different weight divisions, dominated Charlo and even managed to knock him down in the seventh to secure a win with a unanimous decision over Charlo.

Eubank, a former interim middleweight champion of the World Boxing Association and super-middleweight champion of the International Boxing Organization, questioned Jermell Charlo’s motivation for fighting the Mexican superstar.

Chris Eubank Jr. calls out Canelo Alvarez

In a recent Twitter post, Chris Eubank Jr expressed his thoughts on the verdict of the fight between Canelo Alvarez and Jermell Charlo by calling it “Disappointing.” Chris fired shots at the Mexican champion. Chris said that Canelo needs to fight someone who can make Canelo work very hard for the win unlike Jermell.

The ‘Next Gen’ further went on to say that Canelo should fight someone who has more “Hunger” and does not just want to survive. Eubank concluded by saying that someone who will make Canelo work very hard for the win is Chris Eubank Jr. himself. “This shit is getting embarrassing. I don’t want a hug… I want that scalp!!” Eubank said

The ‘Next Gen’ also questioned the motives of Jermell Charlo for fighting Canelo Alvarez saying that the only reason Charlo fought Alvarez was to secure the payday. Alvarez is known to attract huge pay-per-view, so any fight with Saul pays well.

Chris claimed that Charlo didn’t go in the boxing ring to win, rather just to to survive for 12 rounds, secure the payday, and hug it out. Jermell Charlo himself said that for him making the most money is his career focus now.

However, Charlo’s performance against Alvarez was so poor that Jermell may not be able to secure any big fight fight for the moment. Terrence Crawford, the guy that Jermell wants at 154, was so disgusted by his lack of effort against Canelo that he said, “He’s no longer on my hit list.”
