Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard To Miss Season Start Due To Knee Inflammation

It’s a tough time to be a Clippers fan. Paul George is gone, and Kawhi Leonard is injured again. Kawhi will miss the start of the 2024-25 season because of inflammation in his repaired right knee. The team said he is out indefinitely while he continues his rehab.

Kawhi Leonard, who has battled knee problems for years, including a torn ACL that sidelined him in the 2021-22 season, is facing knee inflammation again. He missed the last eight games of last season and barely played in the playoffs. Now, he’s set to miss the start of the 2024-25 season, with no timeline for his return.

Though Leonard hoped to start the season, his knee hasn’t healed, and he hasn’t participated in training camp scrimmages. Last month, he stated, “I’m a human being and we’re playing basketball. I never plan to miss games, but it’s just about my body. “

However, the latest update indicates that the Clippers will begin the new season without their best player, and the coach has stated that there is no timeline for his return.

Clippers coach optimistic about Kawhi Leonard playing this season

Kawhi Leonard’s health will be a major concern for the Clippers as they prepare to face the Suns in their season opener on October 23. Despite his knee issues, coach Tyronn Lue is hopeful Leonard will return later in the season.

Lue said, “Like we said from Day 1, it’s going to take some time. He’s going to progress. He’s doing all the right things. He’s working hard and he’s looking good. So, there’s no timetable, or nothing like that. Nothing has changed from Day 1. Still working to get him to where we’re trying to get him to.”

He added, “And, so, until he’s 100% and he’s able to go and we have no concerns about him doing anything different, then we just got to continue to follow the path we’ve been on.”
