Clippers Point Guard James Harden Now 2nd in NBA’s All-Time 3-Point Rankings

Clippers guard James Harden, known as “The Beard,” is one of the NBA’s top talents and the 2017 MVP. While not in the top 10 for scoring or assists, Harden’s rise in the 3-point rankings is impressive and deserves recognition. He’s seen as part of the elite group alongside LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant.

James Harden has officially moved into second place on the NBA’s all-time 3-pointers made list. During Sunday’s game against the Utah Jazz, Harden made a pull-up 3-pointer from the right wing in the first quarter, marking his 2,974th career 3-pointer and surpassing Hall of Famer Ray Allen.

Allen took the No. 1 spot for 3-pointers in the 2010-11 season, holding it for over a decade. Curry broke Allen’s record in the 2021-22 season. Now, Harden is second on the list, behind Curry, who has 3,782 career 3-pointers. Harden is still 900 3-pointers behind, so catching Curry won’t happen soon.

Harden reached this milestone in a recent game at Intuit Dome by making a three-pointer with 6:09 left in the first quarter. About this achievement, he said, “Unbelievable accomplishment. Just a testament to the amount of work that I’ve been putting in. As I get older and just chip away at an unbelievable career, [I] start to accomplish things like that. So I don’t ever want to take it for granted.”

Fans celebrate James Harden’s big achievement

Clippers fans have shared their own thoughts on James Harden’s 3-point record. However, many are comparing him to Curry, noting Harden has a long way to go to catch up. For Stephen Curry fans, it’s a relief to see their star still holding the top spot.
