Coach Mike Tomlin Breaks Silence on Steelers’ QB Plans After Early Playoffs Exit

The Steelers faced another tough playoff loss, just like the last four years. They lost to the Ravens in the Wild Card round with a rough 28-14 defeat. The game wasn’t even as close as the score makes it seem. After the disappointing loss, head coach Mike Tomlin spoke to the media about the team’s plans moving forward.

Fans and the team are disappointed that the Steelers have now lost five straight games in the first round of the playoffs. It’s clear they need to plan better for next season.

To complicate matters, all their quarterbacks are set to become free agents this offseason. Both Russell Wilson and backup Justin Fields will hit free agency, and even third-string QB Kyle Allen is leaving.

Mike Tomlin spoke to the media to address these challenges and the team’s recent struggles. Tomlin stated, “I’m not ready to take a big-picture approach. You know, I’m really assessing what happened today, and I’m certainly appreciative of the efforts tonight, but I can say that largely for the entire season.”

Mike Tomlin shares thoughts on team’s poor Saturday game

The Steelers’ performance on Saturday night left Mike Tomlin expecting more from the team, especially QB Wilson. However, Wilson didn’t meet those expectations. After the game, Tomlin said the team tried hard, but they just couldn’t score well.

He said, “(Wilson’s play), it was like our play, it wasn’t good enough,” Tomlin told reporters. “Again man, I just love the spirit in which he continued to fight, the way he led the group out of the locker room at the half… but certainly none of us were good enough tonight.”
