WWE is taking the fallout from Bash in Berlin to Canada on WWE SmackDown. After Cody Rhodes retained his Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens, GM Nick Aldis has booked a Steel Cage match against Solo Sikoa to keep the action intense.
Cody Rhodes didn’t get much time to enjoy his victory at Bash in Barlin, as Solo Sikoa from The Bloodline soon challenged him on SmackDown. When Cody invited the entire Bloodline to face him, Sikoa wasted no time gathering the new Bloodline to start a fierce attack on the American Nightmare.
GM Nick Aldis stepped in to control the chaos and announced a Steel Cage match for next week between Rhodes and Sikoa. Aldis said, “Getting a little old, bad for business. So I have a solution hat’s best of business. Next week, Solo Sikoa vs Cody Rhodes for the Championship… in a steel cage.”
This match will be a rematch from Summerslam, where Rhodes triumphed over Sikoa with some help from former champ Roman Reigns.
Cody Rhodes kept WrestleMania 40 original plans secret to not upset fans
Recently, Cody Rhodes thought about what may have happened at WrestleMania 40 if WWE had stayed loyal to their initial plans. No one expected him to be the main attraction at WrestleMania 40, even though he had won the Royal Rumble for the second year in a row.
In an interview with Inside The Ropes Magazine, Rhodes shared that fans would be even more upset if they knew the actual plan for him that weekend. He said, “If people knew the real plan for me, they’d be even more angry. I can’t share the real plan for you, The Rock plan, whatever it may be. That was going to be on my mind in terms of how do we make that work?”
Even though fans were aware of a potential plot involving The Rock and The Bloodline, many supported Rhodes’s decision to defeat the Universal Champion to “finish his story.”
