Just a few days ago the NFL world witnessed the harsh punishment of gambling as the Lions receiver Quintez Cephus and safety C.J. Moore got suspended through at least the 2023 season for betting on the league’s games last season as well as receivers Stanley Berryhill and Jameson Williams faced suspension of six games for betting from an NFL facility on non-NFL games.
Besides them, one Commanders’ player, defensive end Shaka Toney was also suspended through at least the 2023 season for the same reason as Moore, however, a recent name has been added to the notorious list recently.

SportsHandle’s Matt Rybaltowski earlier disclosed a current player of the Indianapolis Colts is under investigation from the league for “pervasive betting”, including betting on his own team, saying the athlete is included in the roster, however, he isn’t a “superstar”.
ESPN later revealed the person is none other than the Colts cornerback as well as kick returner Isaiah Rodgers, revealing there is a sportsbook account under the name of an associate of the player and most of the bets were placed in the $25-50 range.
The Colts team released an official statement via ESPN, saying “We are aware of the NFL’s investigation, and we will have no further comment at this time.”

The sixth-round pick of Indianapolis from the 2020 NFL Draft is entering the final year of a four-year contract and was projected to be the franchise’s starting CB following the trade of Stephon Gilmore to the Cowboys. The veteran star got involved in a horrible thing in his prime and said he was vehemently sorry for his actions.
“The last thing I ever wanted to do was to be a distraction to the Colts organization, my coaches, and my teammates. I’ve let people down that I care about. I made an error in judgment and I am going to work hard to make sure that those mistakes are rectified through this process. It’s an honor to play in the NFL and I have never taken that lightly. I am very sorry for all of this.”
The NFL holds a strict policy against any form of gambling by its players as it might possess a potential threat to the integrity of the games, hence, another severe punishment might be on the way.
As the gambling probe unfolds, it remains to be seen what repercussions Isaiah may face and how it will impact his career ahead, however, his instant apology demonstrates a genuine desire to learn from the situation and grow as an individual and hopefully he will do so.
