“Coming back with four belts”: Tim Tszyu calls out champ Jermell Charlo after stone-cold KO victory vs Carlos Ocampo

Against Carlos Ocampo tonight, Tim Tszyu recorded one of the biggest triumphs in his professional boxing career. Tim, however, shows no signs of slowing down; rather, he has his sights on Jermell Charlo as his next prey.

With the boxing scene stacked with many potential contenders, it’s still unclear if Tim will get the next shot but the recent victory will likely add to his resume and raise his credentials as a challenger.

Tim Tszyu vs Carlos Ocampo fight overview

At the Gold Coast Convention Centre at Broadbeach, the Showtime Boxing International’s main bout featured “The Soul Taker” and ‘Chema’. The hometown hero quickly defeated Carlos by technical knockout in the opening round of the bout.

While defending the Interim WBO super welterweight title against the Mexican boxer, Tim extended his pro boxing win streak to 23 fights.

During the post-fight press conference, the 28-year-old boxer expressed he didn’t expect the fight to end this so quickly. Tim knew Ocampo was going to be easier to hit but he also kept in mind that Carlos is a warrior and can take the shots.

“I didn’t think it would happen that early, in all honesty. You don’t get paid overtime in this sport.” Tim added.

Will Jermell Charlo accept Tim Tszyu’s call out?

With great titles come bigger challenges in the world of boxing. Tim is now looking forward to engaging in a bout with stronger foes. The Australian boxer has his sights set on world champion Jermell Charlo next.

Since last year, “The Soul Taker” has been hoping to set up his fight with “Iron Man,” but the American boxer has repeatedly postponed their fight due to having injuries.

After defeating Ocampo tonight, Tim once again challenged Jermell to face him in the ring by saying, “I’m definitely top dog, just under him. He’s the man, I’ll give him that, and I’m just under.”

Tim currently has the WBO interim Super Welterweight belt under his possession but he’s clearly not satisfied. Tszyu wants all four belts and to unlock the rest he knows Jermall is the key he needs to access.

“I want all four. It’s not just the belts, I want the name Charlo on my wrist. So get your tickets, plan all your holidays, because we’re coming back with four belts.” Tim said.

Jermell Charlo is yet to respond to Tim’s call out as he’s rather more interested in the Canelo Alvarez fight. Considering the Mexican’s strong resume and the potential for a huge payday, Tszyu may have to wait a bit longer for his shot at glory.
