“Scheming, lying, fake c–ts”: Conor McGregor deletes anti-Irish government rant tweet

Conor McGregor embarked on another spree of tweeting and deleting, engaging in a rather peculiar rant directed toward both the Irish media and the broader government.

The outburst appears to have been triggered by McGregor’s dissatisfaction with what he perceives as biased and unjust coverage from the Irish national broadcaster, RTE. To illustrate his point, Conor shared a screen recording of his Google searches for “McGregor rte.ie.”

The video showcases McGregor scrolling through the search results, which largely revolve around RTE’s coverage of his numerous arrests and legal troubles over the years.

In the recording, Conor proceeds to type in “McGregor donations,” but fails to find any news articles from RTE regarding his philanthropic efforts.

McGregor blasts RTE, Irish government in invective tweet

Although the tweets have been removed, Conor’s rants, revolved around both RTE and the Irish Government, which provides funding for the outlet.

“Scheming, lying, fake c—ts! We want our money back! RTE, ROBBERS OF THE IRISH PUBLIC!” McGregor wrote.

“RTE, an arm of the Irish government cartel. Robbing, lying, fake hypocrites! WE DESPISE YOU!” Conor wrote in another deleted tweet. “TV3, what’s up? TG4, conas atá! [How are you!] Into the bin with RTE!”

Expressing his evident frustration primarily with RTE’s coverage, Conor didn’t stop at criticizing the broadcaster alone. He extended his criticism to include its supporters and the Irish Government as well.

“I despise our government!” McGregor wrote. “To even lambast RTE in the oireachtas [parliament] in some sort of high and mighty position is in itself the absolute height of hypocrisy! Let’s see your books now! The amount of corruption in Ireland is horrific. A nation in shambles, ran by lizards!”

Notorious later on deleted the tweet

While Conor’s charitable donations have likely made a positive impact on numerous individuals, it’s important to acknowledge that such endeavors tend to receive more coverage from PR companies rather than mainstream news outlets.

Additionally, it’s crucial to recognize that acts of charity cannot simply negate or overshadow legal issues. In the realm of news and media, it is natural for allegations, lawsuits, and arrests involving high-profile athletes to garner significant attention.

This is not to undermine the newsworthiness of McGregor’s participation in his sport, but in recent years, he has unfortunately been involved in a substantial number of legal troubles, surpassing the frequency of his fights.

The extent of these issues has grown extensive, making it impractical to list them all, with Conor having faced various legal challenges and accusations within the past couple of years alone.

It is often convenient to attribute blame to the media and others, dismissing allegations and controversies as mere attempts to exploit McGregor’s fame and wealth.

However, ultimately, if Conor wishes to avoid unfavorable coverage, it may be worthwhile for him to reflect on the reasons why he consistently finds himself in such situations, especially when many other wealthy and famous individuals do not encounter similar issues.
