When asked about whom he would like to face in his comeback, Conor McGregor expressed a desire for a “quadro-logy” with Dustin Poirier. Having fought “The Diamond” Poirier three times previously.

Their last encounter ended with Conor breaking his tibialis, resulting in Poirier winning via TKO. McGregor aims to settle the score, but he believes that Dustin may not be ready for the matchup soon, as he could be preparing for a bout against Islam Makhachev in June.

After the interviewer mentioned Michael Chandler, McGregor’s partner coach in the last season of The Ultimate Fighter, whom McGregor was also slated to fight at the season’s end, McGregor expressed anticipation for that matchup as his first logical choice for a comeback. UFC President Dana White had confirmed this matchup early in 2023, although he never specified a date. Conor’s confident tweets also fueled speculation about the matchup.

Mystic Mac also mentioned that he suggested a super-fight for the fans with Nate Diaz, the Stockton-raised BJJ Black Belt under Cesar Gracie of the Gracie family. Having faced off in the Octagon twice before, this would mark a trilogy between McGregor and Diaz. While both the fans and McGregor desire this fight to happen immediately, McGregor expressed that the UFC publicly dismissed the idea.

Conor also expressed facing a lack of drive for the sport after the matchup with Nate Diaz was explicitly turned down.

“There’s no talk about anything, so I wonder what’s next. I need discussion or conversation because if I’m not getting anything back I just drift off my man,” said McGregor with regards to the shut-down of the Diaz trilogy.
