Counter-Strike is one of the most popular eSports in the world. It has been in the competitive world since beginning with the influx of millions of views and dollars. But CS: GO fans have always awaited its sequel, which came just a few months ago, namely, Counter-Strike 2.
With the advent of Counter-Strike 2, CS:GO has rather become old news. Within a few months, Counter Strike has gained popularity among gamers as well as critics, and the current player count of the game may surprise you.
How many players play Counter-Strike 2 in 2024?
Currently, CS2 is the most popular game on Steam, with an ever-increasing number of players every day. The game has gained popularity over the past few months due to its new mode called Premier, which has a unique ranking system, although the gameplay still focuses on planting and defusing the bomb.
CS2’s player count, according to SteamCharts, has a daily average of 770,765 players from December to January. While the game was still in beta, it had a peak of over 1,802,853 concurrent players.

The game has had a few changes and is still in the development process. Nonetheless, it has a huge fanbase, with some critics still scrutinising the gameplay.
Is Counter-Strike 2 still worth playing in 2024?
Since the very start of Counter-Strike 2, the game has gained and lost many active players over a period of time. The game has had many varied views on its viability in the current gaming world. There are essentially two views:
Those against the novel game believe that it needs many improvements. There are many errors, bugs and glitches faced by gamers. It is also predicted that the game has many latent bugs that cannot be seen per se. While the game is in its very rudimental stage, it becomes obvious to face these constructive criticisms.
It is predicted that since many gamers took their time to get used to the earlier CS: GO, this new game with minor changes will have its setbacks considering it won’t be that exciting to play.
Now that the event has concluded, I want air out my current feelings on CS2.

After playing majority of the event with 40 – 50 ping, even sometimes 60 – 80 if I was unlucky, the game felt incredibly inconsistent, from movement to spraying/hitting opponents. This clip is spectator… pic.twitter.com/X80gfftlQ9
On the contrary, those optimistic about the game believe that the developers are working daily to improve the setup and fix all the errors and bugs. But, despite all the bugs, you should keep playing to maintain your edge over the others who wish to compete in the future.
After a week of CS2 practice, my opinion has become more positive and these are my current take-aways:

NEGATIVES.
1. Audio needs to be adjusted still but I do like the settings that are available.
2. Jumping accuracy seems too good, I don't remember getting jumping dinked so…
Any game that is initially launched needs some time, in particular, to gain some reliability. With this new game launched, some bugs are sure to come into play, but with the right fixes, they can be resolved, thus making the game more accessible to the public at large.
