The friendship between Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo is not really a secret in the football universe. The duo has been very successful in the field during their Golden days. As their decorated careers are approaching the final hour, Marcelo expressed his desire to play with his old friend again.
After his 16 years with Real Madrid, Marcelo joined the Greek side Olympiacos. He hasn’t seen many in-game minutes in the Greek League, making only five appearances, all of which were as a substitute.
Marcelo then received an offer from his boyhood club, Fluminense, which was too good to turn down. He might be looking to retire from his footballing career on the Brazilian side, and the former Brazilian international wants to have a last dance with his friend, Cristiano Ronaldo.
In an interview, Marcelo reportedly stated, “I sent a message to Cristiano where I said Chris, if you want, you can come here whenever you want, and you will be happy”.
Marcelo already missed a chance to play with Cristiano again
Ronaldo’s current team, Al-Nassr, was reportedly interested in signing Marcelo after his contract with Olympiakos was terminated due to fitness issues. However, Marcelo decided to opt for his boyhood club as they were quicker and offered him a decent deal.
The 34-year-old signed a two-year contract that is valid until December 2024, with an option for an extension until the end of 2025.
