YouTuber IShowSpeed, also known as Speed, was in the audience as Lionel Messi made his debut with his new club Inter Miami. Inter Miami was playing Mexican Premier division side Cruz Azul in their home stadium, and the Argentine forward was subbed onto the pitch by his manager Gerard Martino in the second half of the game.
The game had 3 goals in and was tied at 1-1 when Lionel Messi made his entry onto the pitch. Robert Taylor opened Miami’s account for the season by netting in just before the half-time whistle; however, Cruz Azul’s Uriel Antuna found the equalizer in the 65th minute.
Miami received a free kick just 30 yards out from goal in the final minutes of the game. Lionel Messi stepped up and converted with a stunning free kick, earning his first victory in the Herons’ jersey in his first-ever game for the club. Cristiano Ronaldo Superfan IShowSpeed converts to Lionel Messi fan after game-winner free kick
IShowSpeed is popular for his allegiance to Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. The YouTuber fell in love with CR7 after watching his highlights on a YouTube stream. Very recently, he got the chance to meet the Portuguese international when he was on international duty. IShowSpeed was immensely happy and emotional after getting to meet his sporting icon, so much so that the American burst into tears.

However, the social media community saw an absolutely different reaction when Messi scored the winner in yesterday’s game for Inter Miami. In a video surfacing on the internet, the YouTuber quoted, “If Messi scores this freekick, I am a Messi fan.” He was wearing a Ronaldo jersey when Messi stepped up to take the set-piece, but as soon as the Argentine scored he removed his jersey and unveiled his latest Messi jersey with the number 10 imprinted on his back.

It came as an utter shock to the community, especially because Speed is famously known for supporting CR7 and showing a look of disgust whenever Messi achieves something. Also, after his meeting with Cristiano, this came as an unprecedented step. On the other hand, it could be as little as a marketing gimmick by the young YouTuber.
It wasn’t just Speed who showed up to have a glance at the seven times Ballon d’Or winner in the Herons’ jersey. Many other superstars, including the likes of club co-owner David Beckham and LA Lakers basketballer LeBron James also in the audience.
Soccer fans furious with IShowSpeed for changing sides
After Speed’s antics on the sidelines, the pop-soccer community expressed their views on the same via social media platform Twitter. Most of the soccer fans were furious with IShowSpeed for changing sides, especially as the Messi v. Ronaldo debate is a contentious point between the community.
