Cristiano Ronaldo is a name that is known all around the world. The player is talked about in football as well as in the modelling world. The Portuguese top scorer left Europe to make a move to the Saud Pro League club Al Nassr earlier this year.
Not only Cristiano Ronaldo, but other big players like Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., and Karim Benzema also left Europe in the transfer window of 2023. The Opta Power Rankings, a global team ranking system, has just released a list, and Cristiano Ronaldo’s team is higher up than his rival Lionel Messi.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr trumps Messi’s Inter Miami
Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in January 2023. His transfer has made many others follow in his footsteps and make a move to the Middle East. On the other hand, Lionel Messi went in the opposite direction of the crowd and joined American club Inter Miami. Both Messi and Ronaldo have made a great impact on improving their club’s performance.
On the list of the best clubs in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr is ranked much higher than Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami. Al Nassr is at the 86th spot, 150 places ahead of Inter Miami, who stand at 236th. Inter Miami has not won any of its last five games, removing them from the playoff race. Also, the Saudi Pro League is seemingly growing competitive, as many other veteran players have also joined it. These could be some of the many reasons why Al Nassr is way ahead of Inter Miami.
Al Hilal soars to the 75th position leaving Ronaldo’s Al Nassr behind
Though Cristiano Ronaldo has managed to leave Lionel Messi behind, he is still not able to make his club the top Saudi side on the list. The title belongs to Neymar Junior’s Al Hilal. The club has achieved the 75th position on the list, 11 places ahead of Al Nassr.
Neymar Junior joined Al Nassr months after Ronaldo’s transfer, but the Brazilian top scorer’s club is still ahead. Other big names, like Karmi Benzema’s Al Ittihad, are the third-highest Saudi Pro League ranking team (97th position). The no. 1 position with a rating of 100 is held by UEFA Champions League 2022 winners Manchester City, who are now quite used to being at the top.
Cristiano Ronaldo failed to outperform Lionel Messi in the World Cup, but the Portuguese’s team is seemingly doing it at the club level.
