Cristiano Ronaldo’s rape accuser Kathryn Mayorga’s lawyer has been ordered to pay $334K to the Portuguese sensation following the rape allegations brought on him after the case continued from 2010.
US District Judge Jennifer Dorsey has given the order after Ronaldo’s attorney Peter Christiansen requested to refund the $626,000 in attorney’s fees, as the Judge allowed half the amount.

In Dorsey’s original 42-page ruling, she wrote that “even at an early stage of litigation it was clear… that (Mayorga’s) allegations were rooted in the purloined material.”
In 2018, Kathryn Mayorga filed a lawsuit against Cristiano Ronaldo, alleging that he had raped her in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009 but Ronaldo denied the allegations and has maintained his innocence.
The case was settled out of court in 2010, with Ronaldo reportedly paying Mayorga a sum of $375,000 in exchange for her silence but was not closed.

Mayorga came forward in 2018 with her story, saying that she had signed the settlement under duress and that she wanted to invalidate the agreement.
The case was re-opened by Las Vegas police, and a criminal investigation was launched. However, in 2019, the Clark County District Attorney’s office announced that they would not be pursuing criminal charges against Ronaldo due to a lack of evidence.
The case remained ongoing and the truth remains unclear as Court didn’t announce any verdict back then due to the importance of treating all parties involved with respect and sensitivity, and to avoid jumping to conclusions before all the facts were known.

However, following a long investigation, the Judge announced on 14 February 2023 that the case is dismissed with nothing to prove against Cristiano Ronaldo, and the Portuguese suffered due to the charges.
Judge Dorsey further accused Mayorga’s lawyer Stovall of “abuses and flagrant circumvention of the proper litigation process” and that “Mayorga loses her opportunity to pursue this case” as a result of his conduct.
