Cristiano Ronaldo’s stunning free kick for Al Nassr proves he still got his magical touch as fans hail his continued brilliance

Cristiano Ronaldo was back in action yesterday as he showcased his ability to deliver goals once again. He scored a stunning free-kick goal that earned his side Al Nassr a 2-1 win over Ahba.

Al Nassr faced Ahba in a bid to get back on track in the title race. Ahba’s striker Abdulfattah Adam Ahmad Mohammed scored an early opener for his side in the 28th minute. The game was becoming really frustrating for the home side before Ronaldo came in clutch with a freekick to even the scoreline. Midfielder Talisca then scored a penalty to win the game in the 86th minute.

Cristiano’s goal came after he went three games without scoring. It was also his 59th free-kick career goal. His last freekick goal came in a 4-1 victory against Torino in July 2020.

Ronaldo isn’t particularly known for his free-kick goals, especially in his later years when he transitioned into a poacher. He was a great free-kick taker in his early days. CR7’s free-kick goal was stunning as the ball was shot with much power from distance. The goalkeeper couldn’t even anticipate the goal and was helplessly blaming his teammates.

The win allowed Al Nassr to be back in the Saudi Pro League title race just one point behind leaders Al Ittihad who previously beat them 1-0 10 days ago. They will hope to regain their lead once the international break ends when they face Al Adalah on April 5.

What is next for Cristiano Ronaldo?

Ronaldo was also called up for international duty by new Portugal manager Roberto Martinez. It seems the former Real Madrid star will not call quits on his international career yet.

Manchester United parted ways with Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese gave an explosive interview with Piers Morgan regarding the club’s management. After no interest from any top European clubs, he then joined Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr in January. He was offered a contract that made him the world’s best-paid player.

Cristiano had a dream start to his new life and scored eight goals, including two hat tricks in the Saudi Pro League. He even won the player of the Month award for February for his eight goals and two assists. Currently, he has nine goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal will now face Liechtenstein and Luxembourg in the following international break as part of the qualification round of the Euros 2024.
