Dallas Cowboys Linked to Highly-Rated QB for 2025 Draft

The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly eyeing Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers as a potential pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. With Dak Prescott firmly established as the team’s starter, the Cowboys are exploring options to secure a talented backup and potential future starter, and Ewers has emerged as a name of interest.

On “The Insiders,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said the Cowboys might choose a quarterback after the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He mentioned Quinn Ewers as a possible pick, saying the Dallas Cowboys could grab him in the second round. Rapoport believes Ewers is very talented and could be a future starter, even if he doesn’t play right away.

Ewers, a former top recruit, had a stellar college career at Texas. In 2024, he threw for 3,472 yards (3.17 km), 31 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. His strong play helped Texas make the College Football Playoff, where they lost to Ohio State.

The Cowboys have the 12th pick in the first round, but they are likely to focus on other needs early on. Ewers, expected to go in the second round, could be a smart choice for Dallas as they plan for the future.

Ex-NFL QB says Quinn Ewers to Dallas Cowboys would be absolute cinema

The Dallas Cowboys recently lost backup quarterback Cooper Rush to the Baltimore Ravens and are now looking for someone to support Dak Prescott. One idea being talked about is drafting Quinn Ewers in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Former NFL QB Chase Daniel thinks the deal could be a great move. He said, “Quinn Ewers to the Cowboys would be absolute cinema.” He compared it to when the Green Bay Packers drafted Jordan Love to be behind Aaron Rodgers.

Daniel believes that adding Ewers would be a smart decision for the Cowboys’ future while still focusing on the present.

Ewers could be available when Dallas selects at No. 44. His familiarity with the Texas football scene and potential to develop under Prescott make him an appealing option for the Cowboys’ front office.
