Matt Riddle made headlines earlier this month for an incident at John F. Kennedy Airport and hadn’t been seen on television since. The former UFC fighter, who left the UFC almost over a decade ago, has a history of drug abuse.
Dana White and the former UFC fighter are not fond of each other. Riddle has called White a bald man who uses TRT in the past, and the UFC president hasn’t held back in a recent interview regarding the former UFC fighter.
Matt Riddle’s bizarre clarification for marijuana smoking
In an interview to UFC tonight that dates back to 2013, the UFC CEO and president was furious with his former employee. Matt Riddle had a problem with drug abuse, and despite giving Riddle multiple chances, the UFC president had had enough.
In the interview with Chael Sonnen, White revealed his frustration with Matt Riddle due to his regular consumption of marijuana. Riddle was a former employee of Dana White, and White, as the employer, demanded that Riddle stop smoking marijuana.
The clarification that Riddle gave for his regular consumption of Marijuana was that the drug enabled him to not beat his wife and kids, as bizarre it may sound, that is reason which was given by the former UFC fighter.
Matt riddle revealed that he has been smoking marijuana since he was thirteen years old. He further went on to say that the drug isn’t a performance-enhancing drug but instead helps him relax and not be aggressive towards his three kids and wife, as they allegedly are always screaming and shouting.
UFC commentator Joe Rogan however disagrees with the former UFC fighter and says that Marijuana certainly enhances your performance by the means of increasing your pain tolerance.
Former UFC star released by WWE days after TKO merger
Matt Riddle, former UFC fighter who left UFC over a decade ago to join WWE in 2018 has also been released by the WWE following the TKO merger. In a statement released on Twitter, Riddle announced his departure and thanked his fans for all the years of memories.
The move follows mass talent cuts by WWE on Thursday, when the promotion released at least 22 stars or prospective stars in the way of its acquisition by Endeavor and merger with Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Riddle made headlines earlier this month for an incident at JFK airport and hadn’t been seen on television since. Despite reports that his absence was not related to the airport altercation and that he was making his return to “WWE Raw” this week, Fightful Select is now reporting that Riddle hasn’t been backstage or on the road with WWE since he was pulled from weekend events and the September 11 episode of “Raw.”
Riddle was not planned for a return and was not part of WWE’s creative plans following the incident, despite the fact that he was in the middle of a storyline that had seen him teaming up with Drew McIntyre. One source cited Riddle as having “burned through too many chances while in WWE,” as the former UFC and WWE fighter did in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
