D’Angelo Russell has been one of the best talents we have seen in the NBA in recent years. Russell currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, where he averages 18.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game in the ongoing 2023–24 season.
He has been on fire lately breaking records and the Lakers are climbing through the points table, thanks to the sensational performances by D’Lo, who steals the game with his clutch gameplay.
D’Angelo Russell breaks Lakers 3-point franchise record
The former NBA All-Star broke the milestone six minutes into the game against 76ers, scoring the record-breaking 184th three of the season from the left wing off an assist from LeBron James.
“It feels good to be a part of one of these type of deals. This franchise is one of the most prestigious. To have my name be a part of it, I’m more than grateful,” Russell said after breaking the 30-year standing record. He added, “I just want to keep continuing to shatter it and make it hard for the next person.”
Russell finished the game with four shots made from deep and 14 points, bringing his season threes total to 187. With 12 games left for the 28-year-old Lakers Superstar, he would be looking to make this total get past 200 easily.
With that magnificent performance by Russell, the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Philadelphia 76ers 101-94 in a must win game and extended their chances of making it to the playoffs.
Lakers beat 76ers
At this point in the season, where every game is important for the Lakers on the road to playoffs, they were able to come away with a 101-94 victory over the 76ers in a close game, as the 76ers took a slim 52-50 lead after halftime.
Davis scored inside to begin the fourth quarter, as the Lakers regained the lead for the first time in the second half. Davis then had a three-point play, and James blasted a triple, closing the game out in style. The Lakers return to the court on Sunday against the Indiana Pacers.
The upcoming weeks are going to be very interesting as the race to the NBA playoffs has started for many teams in both the Eastern and Western Conference. In the Western Conference, the Lakers and the Warriors are having a ruthless competition with each other for the playoff spot.
