Thereafter there was seemingly no stopping Cormier as he won his next five fights and defended his belt successfully four times. Consequently, the light heavyweight champion earned the opportunity to challenge Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight title. In what was anticipated to be a tough fight for DC, he knocked out Miocic in the second round at UFC 226.

With this win, Cormier became the second fighter to hold the two-division belts simultaneously and it is needless to say that he cemented his legacy as an all-time great. Because there aren’t many fighters in the UFC who have achieved this feat and he did that by beating Stipe who is one of the greatest heavyweight fighters in the history of the promotion.
