Former UFC fighter Daniel Cormier will join WWE to add more gasoline to the already heated feud between Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins. “The Rollins-Riddle feud has gotten very intense and personal,” Cormier said to MMA insider Ariel Helwani. “There’s only one person qualified enough to oversee this brutal match at Extreme Rules, and it’s me. I’ll see you guys in Philly next Saturday.”
WWE is a favorite of Cormier’s as well, and the two have already communicated. In September 2020, the former light heavyweight champion revealed to Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso that he had spoken with WWE management and wanted to join the commentator team. And now, as Santa has finally granted his wish, Cormier will finally have the opportunity to enter a WWE ring.
The visionary and the king of Bros have been going at it in this raging feud for months now, and the appearance of a former UFC heavyweight champ as a guest referee might settle the score once and for all. If any of the superstars tries to cross the line with the referee, Cormier will knock ’em down unconscious!

During this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, Matt Riddle challenged Seth ‘Freaking’ Rollins to a special match when the two were brawling backstage. This comes after they both lost their respective title bouts early in the show. In Rollins’ case, it was a U.S. championship bout. So, they’ll go at it again, this time in Extreme’s birthplace, in a bout designed for carnage that should put an end to their rivalry once and for all.
Because he has previously participated in a fight pit match back in his NXT days, Matt Riddle will have the upper hand in the upcoming match.
Riddle faced Timothy Thatcher in a Fight Pit match on the May 27, 2020, edition of “NXT” in one of his final “NXT” bouts before moving up to the main roster. The WWE Hall of Famer, Kurt Angle, served as the guest referee in that match. Riddle lost the match after Thatcher rendered him unconscious with a rear-naked choke. Riddle has previously described his battle with Thatcher as one of his “most unforgettable.”
