David Beckham’s shocking PSG transfer decision once brought Victoria Beckham to tears

David Beckham is one name that still resonates in the footballing world due to his on-field heroics and his intriguing personal life. Beckham has been in the limelight after his club Inter Miami announced the signing of arguably the greatest player of the generation, Lionel Messi. 

Throughout his illustrious career, the Englishman played for some esteemed clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, PSG and LA Galaxy. In the summer of 1999, the Manchester United legend tied the knot with the Spice Girl Victoria Beckham. Recently, the English icon revealed his out-of-the-blue move to the French giants PSG brought his wife to tears.  

Victoria Beckham’s tearful response to Beckham’s transfer

The former Manchester United superstar met his now-wife Victoria Beckham during his Manchester United days and since then the duo has been described as “couple goals.” In a recent interview, the England superstar revealed that his transfer to PSG left his better half in distress.

Talking about disclosing his move to the city of Paris after his stint with LA Galaxy to his wife, the 48-year-old superstar said “It was the first time Victoria could choose where we moved to because before that the family had to move with me. So she decided to move back to London, where her business is. On the way back to London my phone rang and it was the PSG president.”

Recalling the moment, he said, “When I had to explain to Victoria she burst into tears because she’d felt that, after all of this time, she had me back, but she knew I’d been offered an opportunity to win another trophy.” 

The Inter Miami co-owner concluded by saying “I don’t think I’ve met anyone that works as hard as her. She is committed to not just our family but her business as well, and she’s having so much success that has come through hard work over the years.”

How many games did David Beckham play for PSG?

On the closing hours of the 2013 winter transfer window, the French powerhouse announced the signing of the English legend. Soon after the completion of the transfer, the French club announced that Englishman had decided to donate his entire paycheck to a local children’s charity.

At the end of the season, David Beckham had added one more trophy to his cabinet as PSG lifted the Ligue-1 title by defeating Lyon. The former Manchester United winger played 14 games in PSG colours and unfortunately could not find the back of the net in any of the games. After his short stint in the city of Paris, the England icon decided to hang up his boots at the end of the 2012/13 season.

The English winger has continued his entrepreneurial adventure after the end of his illustrious career in the game of football. The British couple have always stolen the limelight due to their charisma and charming attitude. In hindsight, the journey to the city of Paris did not prove to be a sore one for the British couple.
