The Green Bay Packers are going to have a new starting quarterback for the first time in 30 years. It sounds quite shocking as the NFL teams keep changing their starting quarterbacks. But the Packers stuck with Aaron Rodgers until last season and traded him to the Jets. Now, that the four-time NFL MVP has been traded to the Jets, all eyes are on Jordan Love.
Jordan Love is the starting quarterback of the Packers this season. He has impressed everyone with his progress in the preseason games. The Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay also praised the quarterback.
Darius Slay believes Love holds great promise as Packer’s QB
Darius Slay has extensive experience playing against Aaron Rodgers, the former starting quarterback of the Packers. He is aware of the talent and remarkable on-field performances of Rodgers. Recently he appeared on the Pat McAfee Show and talked about the quarterback situation of the Packers.
He shared that Aaron Rodgers was a great player: “As a defense, when A-Rod goes out, we feel great. That’s one of the greatest quarterbacks ever, so if he goes out, we got to go out here and really get active.”
He also emphasized that now that Rodgers is not in the game, the defensive line feels more relaxed playing against a new quarterback.
“The D-line gets a little hungrier because they know with a young buck coming in, they can get after the quarterback since A-Rod makes a lot of checks and communication at the line of scrimmage, that’s hard to sack”
But then Slay mentioned that Jordan Love is also a great quarterback.
He praised him and mentioned that the Packers will have a bright future with him.
“So, [Love] comes in and actually does a very, very solid job. Green Bay got a bright, bright future, like a bright one because buddy was slinging it.”

Darius Slay has confidence in Love’s potential. Jordan Love is a great quarterback as he learned a lot from Aaron Rodgers while he was the backup quarterback of the team, and we hope he can prove that in the upcoming season.
Jordan Love impresses in preseason debut
Jordan Love passed his first in-game test of 2023 and completed 7 of 10 passes for 46 yards and a score in his preseason game. His growth didn’t go unnoticed and even his teammates are now praising him.
David Bakhtiari, a teammate of Love and an offensive lineman, shared that he is impressed with the quarterback’s performance.
“Definitely a higher standard,” Bakhtiari said. He mentioned that Jordan Love got the chance to learn from Rogers for three years which helped him understand the offense of the team.
“You’re able to see that for three years and then now coming in, so yeah, his baseline for me is way higher.”
The offensive lineman shared that Love is not going to be judged as a first-year quarterback as he has been exposed to Rodgers’ expertise.
“I’ve been very pleased with what I’ve seen from him. And I think he’s also understanding that he’s not going to be judged, either, by a first-year quarterback, which is great.”

Bakhtiari expressed excitement about Love’s progress and shared that it will translate into the game sharing his confidence in the potential of the quarterback.
“I think he’s going to be competitive right out of the gate. I’ve seen his development in practice. I’m really excited to see it translate into the game, and him to get those game time and hours logged in. And really see how he adapts and corrects himself mid-game and game to game.”
Jordan Love has a lot of pressure as he is going to replace one of the best quarterbacks on the field and also because he is going to be the first new starting quarterback of the Packers in 30 years. But with his hard work and determination, he has already impressed everyone. His remarkable performance in the preseason games has made other teams realize that they are going to get tough competition even if Rodgers is no longer with the team.
