Manchester United is set to resume its Premier League campaign with a match against Sheffield United on Sunday. However, Sheikh Jassim’s withdrawal from the Manchester United takeover bid has left Red Devils fans upset. They have criticized the owners for their questionable decision to reject the proposal from the Qatari consortium.
Amid the takeover saga, another conflict is brewing between Jadon Sancho and Manchester United’s manager, Eric Ten Hag. Sancho has been absent from the squad for the past couple of months and has now been conspicuously left out of the current season’s squad photo.
Sancho absent from United’s season squad photo
The former Borussia Dortmund winger, who made an ambitious switch to Manchester United in 2021, failed to live up to expectations and has been out of first-team action since August. He has played only 76 minutes this season, appearing in three substitute roles.
United boss Ten Hag excluded Sancho from the Arsenal match squad, citing subpar performance in training as the reason for his non-selection. This led the player to respond on social media, igniting a public controversy and resulting in a fallout.
Subsequently, Ten Hag publicly criticized Jadon Sancho. Despite Sancho’s teammates requesting him to apologize after his suspension from the squad, the 25-year-old stood firm on his stance and refused to issue any apologies to the manager.
Manchester United held a squad photo session ahead of resuming their league season, and as expected, Jadon Sancho was absent. Judging by the current scenario, it is evident that the English forward’s future at Old Trafford is certainly over, as there seems to be no way to resolve his fallout with the Dutch boss.
Manchester United makes dramatic-from-behind victory over Brentford
The Red Devils had a shaky start to their Champions League campaign, losing two of their opening fixtures against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray. They are gearing up for their next match against FC Copenhagen, on Tuesday.
In the domestic league, they have won four and lost an equal number of games this season. Currently, they reside in 10th place in the league table with 12 points.
In their recent Premier League match against Brentford, Ten Hag’s side staged an injury-time comeback. Scottish international Scott McTominay, coming off the bench, scored a brace to secure a late triumph at Old Trafford, resulting in an exhilarating 2-1 win.
After the match, McTominay revealed that it was the David Beckham documentary that inspired his outstanding performance.
