Days after social media drama involving Victor Osimhen, Napoli finds themselves in a legal battle over unauthorized doll

Victor Osimhen is not on good terms with Napoli after the Serie A winners posted a video on their official TikTok account making fun of the player after he missed a penalty. The striker was not told about the controversial video and threatened to file a complaint against his club.

After this controversy, Napoli may get into another legal battle with an Italian toy store due to the release of a doll that looks similar to Victor Osimhen.

Napoli release statement regarding Victor Osimhen doll

An Italian store released a doll named Cicciobello Bomber that has an uncanny resemblance to Victor Osimhen. The toy has the same skin color and the same tuft of blonde hair as well. It also has a protective mask similar to the one that Osimhen wears in all of his games. The toy’s resemblance to the Nigerian striker has made it viral on social media, which caused it to grab Napoli’s attention.

Napoli talked about the doll, saying that they did not authorize it. The club denied any relation to it and will also take legal action against the store as it violates Victor’s image rights. An official statement by the club read: “We’re denying any report in the Italian media about releasing the kids’ toy ‘Cicciobello Bomber’ inspired by Victor Osimhen in Napoli shirt. That product was not authorized by the club. We will settle this issue in court”.

Nigerian striker’s future at Naples

After being in an argument with his club over a controversial TikTok video, Victor Osimhen is no longer interested in staying with Naples. The 24-year-old has removed all of his Napoli-related Instagram posts to express his disappointment.

Chelsea wanted to sign him in the 2023 summer market, but without Champions League qualification, any bid to sign him proved difficult. Though there are constant speculations about the Nigerian international leaving Italy, club president Aurelio De Laurentiis said that the player’s transfer is not up for discussion: “Victor is a player who makes a team on his own; it’s not up for discussion. There is no problem with the renewal; everyone in Napoli is happy.”

We are yet to see if Victor Osimhen stays at Napoli or decides to take his talents elsewhere in the next transfer window. Do you think Osimhen should push his transfer? Let us know in the comments.
