Veteran’s effort not enough to salvage point for Brighton
Brighton went toe to toe against Greek club, AEK Athens in the Europa League Group B round-1 on 22 September 2023. The match was an absolute nail-biter as the goals were coming one after the other. Athens took an early lead in the game after French right-back Djibril scored a goal in the 11th minute of the game. Brighton managed to equalize the score after they won a penalty but Athens once again came on top after scoring once again at the end of the first half.
Brazilian striker, Joao Pedro managed to get one more equalizer for his team after he scored another penalty in the 67th minute. The Greeks had the last word after Ezequiel Ponce scored a late goal in the 84th minute and sealed the deal for his club.
Milner has faced defeat in his first Europa League game this season but he still has time to turn things around and perform better in his next match against Marseille on 5 October 2023.
