The 26-year-old French international Ousmane Dembele recently moved to the French capital to bolster the PSG flanks under the management of former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique. The Parisians have paid a total sum of €50 million to Barcelona for the services of Dembele.
Dembele has been struggling to open his account since his arrival, as he has yet to contribute with goals or assists in a PSG shirt. Despite his struggles, PSG boss Luis Enrique applauded the Frenchman’s efforts following a win over Dortmund in their first Champions League game.
Luis Enrique believes in Ousmane Dembele’s skills
In the early stages of his career, Dembele played for the youth team of Stade Rennais FC and later made 29 appearances for the senior team. In 2016, he joined the Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, where he quickly emerged as one of the most promising young talents in European football.
Following an impressive stint in Germany, Dembele went on to explore the FC Barcelona challenge, however, he missed out most of the time due to injuries.
Although he hasn’t quite shone since his arrival in Paris, the PSG coach voiced words of encouragement that could boost the morale of the French International. He lauded the quality of Dembele and regarded his talent as ‘magic’.
Luis Enrique praised Dembele, saying, “If I were a fan of any team, I’d pay for a ticket to see Dembele play. He has different qualities. He can miss three times, but he’s magic. He’s a wonderful player. He will score soon.”
Recently, Enrique also showered praise on Kylian Mbappe, calling him ‘the best player in the world‘ after collecting all three points in their first UCL game at home on Tuesday.
Ousmane Dembele’s performance for PSG after €50 million move
This summer Ousmane Dembele returned to France to represent the Parisians under the guidance of former Spanish national team manager Luis Enrique.
PSG paid a €50 million transfer fee to Barcelona to pair him up in the attack alongside his national teammate Kylian Mbappe, and of course, as a replacement for Neymar Jr. who recently left for Al-Hilal.
The 26-year-old has zero goals and assists despite being featured in all the league games for PSG. He also played full 90 minutes against his former side Dortmund in the Champions League but failed to register himself on the scoresheet.
A massive league fixture awaits Dembele as he seeks to end his goal drought at home against Olympique Marseille on Sunday.
