Kylian Mbappe, the PSG star forward, is undoubtedly one of the best players in the world at present. The French international has been a key player for his club under Luis Enrique, who has previously hailed him as the best player in the world even over Lionel Messi.
The 24-year-old stunned the home side Reims by netting a hat-trick to propel his side to the top of the Ligue 1 table on Saturday. Despite the convincing 3-0 win, PSG boss Luis Enrique was unhappy with Mbappe’s performance.
Luis Enrique not happy with Kylian Mbappe
PSG came into the fixture following a midweek 2-1 defeat at the hands of AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League, marking their second loss of the European campaign. Kylian Mbappe vows to react positively in the remaining matches to advance to the next round.
It’s been no surprise that Kylian Mbappe has drawn interest from Real Madrid, which sees him as an ideal fit for the club. However, a recent statement from the club denied any ongoing talks with the player despite multiple reports. Moreover, the 24-year-old refused to sign an extension with PSG, indicating his exit next summer.
After the Champions League upset in Milan, Mbappe’s top-notch performance in the French league helped the reigning champions reclaim the number one spot on the table. Despite a game-settling performance, Spaniard boss Luis Enrique voiced his unhappiness with the forward game at Reims.
He said, “I’m not really happy with Kylian today. I have nothing to say about the goals… But he can help the team more, in different ways. He’s a world-class player, we want more. I’m going to talk to him about it first, it’s private.”
Kylian Mbappe bags hat-trick against Reims
The Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain convincingly defeated the hosts Stade de Reims 3-0 at Stade Auguste Delaune on Saturday. For the visitors, their talisman Kylian Mbappe bagged a hat-trick, extending his personal league goal tally to 10 goals, aiming to secure his third accolade as the Ligue 1 top scorer of the season.
Overall this season, the Frenchman has netted a total of 15 goals and provided 3 assists in as many matches. The crucial win comes just before the international break. Now, Mbappe will join the French national team for their upcoming EURO 2024 qualifying fixtures against Gibraltar and Greece this month before aiming for a spot in the Champions League Round of 16, which is at stake in the remaining two games.
