The FIBA World Cup friendly matches have ended and the actual tournament has commenced. Brandon Ingram is playing in the World Cup as a part of Team USA. Ingram is considered a rising NBA Star as his recent performances for the New Orleans Pelicans were top-class.
However, he appears a little disappointed with his role in Team USA in the current FIBA World Cup. Ingram has recently recovered from an injury a few months prior that made him miss 28 games in the previous season with the Pelicans.
Brandon Ingram voices frustrations Over his Team USA role at FIBA World Cup
Brandon exchanged a few words with Joe Vardon from the Athelics and had something to say about his current role in Team USA. Ingram said,
“This is different than what I am used to. The team is winning right now, so I can’t be selfish thinking about myself. But it’s a little frustrating right now for me, and I’m just trying to figure out ways I can be effective.” Brandon’s performance at FIBA looks like a rock in front of a mountain when compared to his performance at Pelicans.

He is currently averaging just 7.8 points per game which is a very small number compared to his 24.7 points per game for the New Orleans Pelicans. He is currently struggling with his form and it is understandable why he is frustrated. Still, things seem to be going well for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup and it’s just the start for Ingram. Team USA wins their opening game vs. New Zealand at FIBA World Cup
Team USA had a strong start to the FIBA World Cup with a massive win over Team New Zealand. USA secured the win via a 27-point lead which should have had a positive impact on the squad.
The game started a bit tricky in the first quarter with only a 10-point trail. Thanks to the performances of Austin Reaves, Paolo Banchero, and Tyrese Haliburton, Team USA was able to outpace their opponents. Banchero emerged as the hero for the USA in this game with a 21-point game-high score. With this win, Team USA has advanced to Group C with a 1-0 record and will be facing Greece as their next opponent.
