After losing to the New Orleans Pelicans, the Dallas Mavericks star duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving missed the first game against the Memphis Grizzlies due to injury, and they have a return game tonight at the American Airlines Center.
In Saturday’s game against the Grizzlies, the Mavericks suffered their second defeat in a row by a narrow margin at the FedEx Forum. Prior to that game, on Wednesday, their star Luka Doncic left the court with a thigh injury and didn’t return later in the game.
Moreover now, after the new arrival, Kyrie’s injury, the Mavericks are in a pickle for tonight’s game.
What is the update on Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic’s injuries?
In Wednesday’s game at the Smoothie King Center, the 24-year-old shooting guard left the court just after 28 minutes of play due to an issue on his left thigh. Later, the MRI revealed a clean strain on the injured thigh, and he was ruled out for the first game against the Grizzlies.

The Slovenian scored 15 points with two assists and eight rebounds in those 28 minutes, but his team lost the game anyhow by seven points to the host.
The other star, Irving, also missed the last game and is still on the questionable list in the injury update for tonight. The 30-year-old felt soreness on his right foot a couple of days ago and didn’t take any risk to play through it.

As for Doncic, he is set to miss this game too, as he is still recovering from his strained left thigh, and the host is going to play the return game without the star duo again.
The Grizzlies won the first game by a tight, contested 112-108 scoreline, but that doesn’t send any comfort to their locker room yet. Their opponent expects to put up a better fight in their home arena, though they are going through a rough patch right now.
