Many fans were pleasantly surprised when the ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor’s comeback was announced for TUF 31. His opponent Michael Chandler has been getting a lot of attention ever since the announcement. Now McGregor’s former rival Nate Diaz seems to have some hilarious opinions about the upcoming matchup.
Chandler revealed his earlier encounter with Nate where the former UFC WelterWeight had a humourous remark, “He said (Nate Diaz) don’t go winning because we’re (Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor) are gonna do something. We’ll see what happens. We’re about half and half [attached to fights with McGregor], yeah. We are mutually beneficial opportunists who love to compete against each other. That’s where we’re at right now.”
The former Bellator champion also had some predictions regarding his own fight, “I finish him (Conor McGregor) in the second round, that’s a ‘Mystic Mike’ projection.”
Will we actually see a Nate Diaz vs Conor McGregor 3?
When a fighter does not or can not fight fo the title, a good option is to host legacy fights or exhibition matches. On paper, Floyd Mayweather has been retired from boxing for many years now. But the undefeated boxer had an exhibition boxing match just this February against Aaron Chalmers.
On the other hand, Jake Paul does not even hold an official ranking yet managed to‘reportedly’ earn $30 million from his fight against Tommy Fury. Most combat sports enthusiasts no longer consider Conor worthy to ever fight for the title again. It’s unclear why the Irish is even fighting in the UFC at this point.
Nate recently had a triumphant retirement from the UFC after defeating Tony Ferguson in a Welterweight bout. It has been long rumored that the younger Diaz brother might launch his very own fighting promotion soon. A 3rd outing against McGregor will bring in fans in droves.
‘Mystic Mac’ can also potentially generate a lot of money if he chooses to settle his scores against his old rival, wherever the fight takes place. Another hilarious possibility is to host the match as an ‘Eagle FC’ event (judging by the intense rivalry between the trio, just imagine how awesome it would be!)
Even Jorge Masvidal has launched a new promotion recently and other existing companies like Bellator and Rizin will probably offer good money.
Would you watch Nate and Conor fight for a third time?
