Drake wins enormous £1.4million on Jon Jones’ victory vs Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 despite his betting curse streak

Songwriter and singer Drake, who has recently taken an interest in wagering on combat sports, won a whopping £1.4 million after betting on Jon Jones.

After a three-year absence, Jon Jones made his UFC return on Saturday night, where he competed against Cyril Gane in the octagon at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and ended up forcing Gane to submit in the very first round.

Unquestionably, Bones’ success in the submission win made everyone happy who had gambled on him as they won the lottery. Rapper Drake is one of the people who placed not just one but two bets on Jon Jones.

The Canadian artist bet $250,000, or £207,730, on Jones to win the fight either via submission or a knockout, and that’s exactly how Jones won. Drake already has an adverse reputation for gambling because he generally loses, but this time lady luck was on his side when he earned £1.4 million as Jones won via submission.

Drake also put $400,000 on American boxer Jake Paul a week ago, but Jake lost to British fighter Tommy Fury. After that, Jake jokingly blamed Drake for his defeat since, according to common belief, the Drake curse struck him.

Given that Drake has been betting on UFC fights for more than a year now, Drizzy’s passion for gambling did not develop overnight. The Drake Curse has been an established fact as everyone Drake places a bet on loses, has become a well-known term on the internet due to the huge financial losses Drake had to endure associated with losing bets.

The 36-year-old musician last year wagered on Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington’s grudge battle, which he ended up losing after backing Jorge. Drake lost a substantial quantity of money the second time he bet on Justin Gaethje to beat Charles Oliveira.

Prior to yesterday’s enormous win on Jon Jones, Drake also won a $1 million wager last year on Israel Adesanya to beat Jared Cannonier.
