GSW star Draymond Green and his Wife Hazel Renee will be donating $100k to honor the tragic death of Adreian Payne.
Adreian Payne, 31, was shot dead when he went to mediate between a friend and her boyfriend. Payne and his girlfriend where there to ensure the chances of domestic violence. The alleged shooter was Lawrence Dority.
Payne is a former Michigan State Basketball player. There, he was roommates with current Golden State Warriors’ superstar Draymond Green from 2010 to 2012.
Green was in the Warriors team that ran out winners 101-98 over the Memphis Grizzlies in the fourth game of their play-off series on Monday night. The Warriors now hold a 3-1 lead, and could close out the series in the next game.
Speaking after the game Green said, ” It was great to lose myself in the game for 48 minutes. Rest in peace, Adreian Payne. My brother, my little brother, my college roommate, my teammate. Very, very emotional day, but the win helps. It sucks.”

Green also hosted a special episode of his podcast- the Draymond Green show- titled ” A Tribute To Adreian Payne”
Payne was a first-round pick of the Atlanta Hawks in 2014. He played for several teams in the NBA and overseas. He was most recently a member of Juventus Utena in Lithuania during the 2021-22 season.
