Draymond Green getting “pissed off” over Kevin Durant’s comment leads to Suns forward providing clarification

The recent altercation involving Draymond Green and Suns’ player Jusuf Nurkic that sparked both on-court and off-court repercussions led Green to an indefinite suspension.

Green’s former teammate, Kevin Durant, voices his concerns and hopes for Green to “get the help he needs,” probably prompting that the man needs some anger management therapy, which wasn’t taken lightly by Green.

Kevin Durant clarifies himself over Draymond Green suspension comments

Right after Draymond Green’s clash with the Phoenix Suns center, Jusuf Nurkic, the Suns starting forward, Kevin Durant said this about Green on a post-game interview, “Yeah, that was insane to see. Glad Nurk is alright. Never seen that before on a basketball court [or] NBA game. I hope Draymond gets to help he needs.”

Durant continued to clarify that “It’s been incident after incident. I know Draymond, and that’s not – he hasn’t been that way when I was around him coming into the league. So hopefully he gets the help he needs and get back on the court and put all this stuff behind him”.

This, however, took a different turn with Green’s response: “I’ll tell you, it really pissed me off when Kevin Durant said, ‘He wasn’t like that when I was around. I hope he gets the help he needs’

Green further elaborated, “And the reality is: I’m not. I’m not even close to the same Draymond that I was in 2017, but I quite frankly haven’t allowed anyone in the world to see that growth, to see that change and I have had my reasons why. We live a very public life and sometimes you want to cut that off”.

However, Durant, in his clarifications, delves into the circumstances that prompted his comments, stating, “You got to look at it from my perspective”

“Like what am I supposed to think? They say somebody going to therapy, I’m hoping he gets better from that, and hope he learned from whatever he feels like he needs to learn from going to therapy”

Durant’s closing statements were, “I’m glad he’s back. I’m glad he can move past that. Draymond is an incredible teammate. He got his times where he loses temper, but everybody has those times and I’m sure they all [are] happy to have him back. But I didn’t mean no ill will by what I said”.

Reason behind Kevin Durant’s infamous fight with Draymond

The infamous altercation between Kevin Durant and Draymond Green during a game against the Los Angeles Clippers back in 2018 reshaped the Warriors’ dynasty.

In a candid conversation on “Chips,” Draymond Green’s show for the Bleacher Report shed light on the true reasons behind the explosive incident. As the details unfolded, it was evident that the clash wasn’t just merely a spur-of-the-moment disagreement but a culmination of underlying team management decisions.

Durant emphasized the need for transparency and open communication within the team at the time and just avoiding the problem wasn’t the most efficient way of solving it.

Durant told Green that “It wasn’t the argument, it was the way that everybody, (coach) Steve Kerr, tried to act like it didn’t happen”.

Green disclosed a conversation that he had with the management and how synonymous the two incidents were in how both players felt.

What do you think? Would KD have stayed with the Warriors if the management had kept things transparent and straight with the players? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below!
