On Friday Night SmackDown, things took a surprising turn when Drew McIntyre came to the ring, talked to Cody Rhodes, and hugged him. No one knew why he did it, but now ‘The Scottish Warrior’ has shared the reason on social media.
Drew McIntyre recently talked about his surprise hug with Cody Rhodes during WWE SmackDown. Fans were shocked when McIntyre, known as “The Scottish Warrior,” hugged Rhodes in the ring. This was unexpected since McIntyre is usually intense.
McIntyre shared photos of the moment on Instagram and explained that he hugged Rhodes to get a better look at his neck tattoo. He joked that the tattoo looked “funnier up close.”
The post captioned: “I just wanted a good look at that tattoo. I can confirm it’s even funnier up close.” When McIntyre hugged Rhodes, it was already shocking because that gesture was completely opposite of his character.
Since, he confirmed that the hug wasn’t serious, just a fun moment; now everyone could say that they were correct about the moment.
The original plan for Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes’ segment
On this week’s SmackDown, McIntyre embraced Rhodes and cautioned him about the potential damage to his career, yet Rhodes remained unimpressed. He told McIntyre he was ready for a title match anytime. After McIntyre left, Kevin Owens attacked Rhodes, setting up their Royal Rumble ladder match.
