After over a decade, EA Sports is rejuvenating its college football franchise. While it’s no longer called the EA NCAA Football, the excitement is high that the series finally has a new title, which is confirmed to be released this summer.
With the full 134 teams from the Football Bowl Subdivision slated to appear on the roster, EA has announced some details regarding the players willing to opt in their NIL to be used in the game.
CFB players to receive $600 to be included in the EA Sports College Football 25
The earlier college football games did not provide any monetary benefits to players appearing in the game. Now EA has announced players opting in with their name, image, and likeness will receive 600 dollars and a physical copy of the game. In addition, there will be benefits for the selected athletes who are featured in the game merchandise.
While the payout is low compared to licensing deals in games such as Madden, EA expects over 11,000 from the 10 conferences to join College Football 25. Players have the option to not opt in, and that will result in a pre-rendered avatar being used instead in their place.
Also, EA will prevent gamers from creating avatars resembling players who do not want to be featured in the game. This is likely due to the legal issues with player licensing that stopped the franchise after NCAA Football was last released back in 2013. A federal court ruling prevented EA from using the players’ likeness due to a lack of compensation paid to the players.
What is the EA Sports College Football 25 release date?
There is no official release date for EA Sports College Football 25 as of now. However, EA will do a complete reveal in May that will shed more light on how the game looks and feels. Expect the release to follow soon, in the summer of 2024.
Back in February, EA shared a video acknowledging the development of the game, which was rumored to be in the works. It will likely use the Frostbite engine, which is utilized in the popular FIFA and Madden series. However, EA says college football will feel different than Madden 24. They are making sure the stadiums, kits, and game assets feel similar to those of real-life teams.
