Eagles rumored to release legendary DT this season? Exploring Kentavius Street’s NFL future

The winds of change have surrounded almost every other NFL team as they are experiencing changes in one way or another.

Moreover, the Philadelphia Eagles are no exception as they are most likely to release one of their veteran defensive tackles, Kentavius Street this season.

Why Eagles want to release Kentavius Street?

Kentavius Street is a professional NFL footballer who is a 2018 draft. After getting drafted by the San Francisco 49ers, he moved to New Orleans Saints in 2022. Then in 2023, he signed a one-year deal on March 30 with the Eagles.

The football had an impressive record of sacks last year. But still, some rumors have started to surface regarding his release from his current team.

It is of course very confusing for NFL fans to think about such an incident where a player gets released despite showing good on-field activity. Well, let us clear the clouds of confusion.

Currently, Street is now in such a position it is getting overcrowded with aspirants and candidates. And this is imposing threats of a potential job-losing phenomenon for him.

In the Eagles, the positions of tackle ends are currently fully loaded with Fletcher Cox, high-profile pick Jalen Curter, 2022 first-round pick Jordan Davis and 2021 pick Marlon Williams.

Besides, Street had a good hold over sacks, but the former Saints DT scored only 4.2 in his defensive grade criteria last season which takes him to the place of one of the lowest DT scorers when compared with Eagles’ tackles.

How did Kentavius do last season?

Street was part of the Saints last season and had some exciting shows to offer to the NFL fans. With 3.5 sacks, 9 pressures, and 29 tackles, he was in a contend mode.

Besides he scored 518 defensive snaps which are the highest in his career. During his tenure with the Saints, the defensive tackles of the team were literally in a stressful spot followed by stumbled performances throughout the season. However, near the end of the season, they were able to get some reputation back.

Along with career-high sacks, Street then signed a $1.280 million deal with the Eagles and became a part of the team.
