A Premier League footballer who traveled to Qatar with his national team for the 2022 World Cup is being investigated after a woman accused him of sexual abuse.
The player in question was already charged with raping two women between April 2021 and June 2022. However, a third claimed victim has come forward to say that she was sexually attacked in Hertfordshire in February of last year.
Who could the World Cup player be?
As reported by the Sun, the player who played at the recent World Cup is being held under arrest at a police station and has been questioned for hours about the new allegation. The footballer was previously detained in July when police were called to his residence in north London.
Meanwhile, he has not been banned by his club which is awaiting the results of the inquiry and continues to play for the first team. For legal reasons, both the identity of the player and his club cannot be named.
In total 133 players from the Premier League represented 26 nations in the World Cup with 120 of them having played minutes on the pitch. So a guess could be almost impossible to make.

What did the Premier League player do?
According to the article, the woman, who is in her twenties, said she was raped on a vacation in the Mediterranean in June. She had escaped a five-star hotel where she had been vacationing to come back home to her family and has subsequently talked to UK police about her ordeal, displaying injuries on her body as a result of the alleged assault.
Following his original arrest, the footballer was re-arrested on suspicions of two further claims from April 2022 and June 2021, the latter of which was subsequently dismissed by authorities. He will now answer police bail in July, having originally been scheduled to appear this month.
The accusations, which spread to many Premier League players’ WhatsApp groups, were reported to have astonished the alleged player’s teammates. The player’s imprisonment has been the hot topic of many elite-level locker rooms across the country.

Who else has been convicted of sexual assault?
This isn’t the first case of a player who played at the Qatar World Cup having been accused of rape. Brazilian soccer superstar Dani Alves has been in jail since being arrested following a sexual assault accusation. He had been arrested for sexually assaulting a young lady at a Barcelona nightclub. He has stayed in jail for more than three months now.
Prosecutors of France have also opened an investigation over PSG superstar Achraf Hakimi as a charge of accused rape was brought on against the Moroccan sensation by a young woman. He had sensationally led underdogs Morocco to a semifinal finish.
Another Premier League star Kyle Walker was also facing an inquiry by police after he was seen drunken in a pub indecently exposing himself. Though it was not rape or sexual abuse, he could still be arrested.
I find it absolutely abhorrent that a player is allowed to continue playing in the Premier League whilst being investigated for rape charges. Shame on that club.

This recent trend of sexual assault allegations among footballers is concerning. It remains to be seen what happens regarding the news of the new rape accusation. Only time will tell who the player is.
