After making a controversial comment about the Las Vegas Raiders, it appears that their star wide receiver Davante Adams is attempting to walk it back a little.
The successful Raiders WR was Aaron Rodgers‘ teammate when he was selected by the Green Bay Packers with the 53rd overall pick in the second round of the NFL Draft in 2014. However, just like Rodgers, the team traded Adams to the Oakland Raiders in 2022 for a first-round pick and a second-round pick this year.
What did Adams say regarding the Raiders?
The Raiders’ star wide receiver, one of the best in the NFL, was named first-team All-Pro for three straight seasons. In an interview this week with Mirin Fader of The Ringer, the WR took pride in himself and acknowledged his superiority on the field.
“Now people can’t say that,” said Adams. “That’ll never be the narrative ever again…It proved that I am me. A quarterback doesn’t make me… I make me. And I can do it consistently at this level.”
At a moment of the conversation, the six-time Pro Bowler added a grain of salt by claiming that he and the team’s decision-makers have not agreed on the team’s offensive strategy, a subtle implication that he is not in favor of replacing Derek Carr.
“(The front office) thinks this is the best bet for us right now to put us in a position to be urgent,” Adams told Fader in an interview that was published Tuesday. “We don’t see eye-to-eye on what we think is best for us right now.”
The WR smashed away all the rumors of a bad relationship with the Raiders
Adams shocked the NFL community by posting a photo to Instagram shortly after the interview had been released. He was pictured holding hands with Raiders general manager Dave Ziegler in the image with the caption “the man.”

The fans obviously had their doubts that there could be something suspicious going on between him and the team, but they have since seemingly had a change of heart and are unable to connect the dots between the two incidents.
The 30-year-old is still a valuable member of the offense for his team, and this season, he broke Tim Brown’s previous single-season record for receiving yards (1,408) and set a new one for the Raiders with 1,443 receiving yards.
Davante probably wanted to demonstrate to the NFL community that the player should always try to keep a friendly relationship with the team despite the existence of some misunderstanding between the parties.
